By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

The fight for supremacy in Indiana's sprints was put to the test in the state's one-class championship meet in Bloomington, where the competition was fierce on the boys side.

In a fantastic 200 meters final, Noah Malone of Hamilton Southeastern edged Jahn Riley in a photo-finish after both were timed in 21.31 seconds. Jordan Hodge was third in 21.35, after running 21.20 in the prelims.

Hodge won the 100 meters in 10.60 and he led Warren Central to victory in the 4x100 relay.

Riley, of Pike, also won the 400 meters in 47.53 seconds.

Cole Hocker of Indianapolis Cathedral, the Foot  Locker cross country champion, won the 800 meters in 1:51.48 after holding off Lowell duo Gabriel Sanchez and Dustin Hudak, both timed in 1:51.73.

Hocker also won the mile in 4:07.00.

Jesse Hamlin of Fort Wayne Snide won the 3,200 meters in 9:04.69 leading five boys under 9:10.

Malachi Quarles, a senior at Franklin Central, won the 110-meter hurdles in 13.91 seconds.

Quarles also won a close race with Trey Sebben of Portage in the 300 hurdles, 38.10 to 38.15.

Fort Wayne South Side won the 4x400 relay in 3:17.19.

Jason Swarens of Terre Haute South Vigo won the shot put with 60-2.50.

Nathan Stone of Lawrence North cleared 16-6 to win the pole vault.

Sophomore Pierce Thomas of Brownsburg won the long jump with 23-11.50.

Freshman Elliott Makes Big Impact

Freshman Ramiah Elliott of North Central was the standout of the girls meet. She won the 400 meters in 53.30 for a massive PR and also won the 200 meters in 23.67. She was part of the winning 4x100 relay (45.77) that just missed the all-time state record of 45.75 (Northrop, 2003).

And to cap it off, Elliott ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay, which broke the all-time state record and clocked  3:43.99. That time is good for US#13.

Teammate Chanler Robinson won the 100 hurdles in 14.25 seconds.

Another freshman, Addison Wiley of Huntington North, won the 1,600 meters in 4:46.93.

Elizabeth Stanhope of Pike, a senior, ran 2:06.62 to lead four girls under 2:10 in an entertaining 800 meters.

Semira Killebrew from Brebeuf Jesuit won the girls 100 meters in 11.63 seconds after Kiyah Yeast of Fort Wayne Northrop ran the fastest time of the meet, 11.61, in the prelims.

The girls from West Lafayette won the 4x800 relay in 9:03.37.

Senior Ella Robinson of Zionsville won the 300 hurdles in 42.05 seconds.

Sophomore Erikka Hill of Shenandoah threw 44-2 to claim the shot put.

Shelby Tyler of Nolbesville cleared 5-9 to win the high jump.

Senior Kennedy Drish of Hamilton Southeastern edged sophomore Taylor Jarosinki of Center Grove for the pole vault title after both cleared 12-9.

Prommyse Hoosier from Warren Central jumped 19-9.75 to win the long jump.
