Top Competition: There were 15 girls in the U.S. this spring who achieved marks of 48 feet or better and two of them were from Indiana. In the state finals, Liz Iversen of Martinsville threw 47-9.75 on her third throw and that held up for the win. Adriana of Lawrence Central threw 47-2.50 and settled for second. Record-breakers: Anna Rohrer and Symone Black broke all-time state records in the championship meet. Rohrer went on to add a second record in the 5,000 when she won the New Balance Nationals Outdoor title in that event in Greensboro. Black, who is headed to Purdue, competed in the Midwest Meet of Champs but did not improve her times. |
